Short history
Alpacas are farm animals originated from South American mountain area; they were specifically breed from their wild ancestors vicuña’s to have fleece that South American natives Inca people could use in clothing.
Right now in South America there are around 3 million alpacas and they are still used as the main source of fleece, similar to vicuña.
The gold of furry animals – fleece
Alpaca fleece is soft, warm and hypoallergenic, it has the unique characteristics of warming the wearer when it’s cold and cooling down when it’s hot. There are up to 52 different natural colours that alpaca fleece can be in as well as the possibilities of multi-coloured animals, for example, our alpaca Tija is multi-coloured or appaloosa, her fleece is in many colours – gray, brown, black and white.

Alpaca fleece can be used for a lot of things: knitwear – mittens, gloves, socks, cardigans, jumpers -, blankets and pillows, washing machine balls, key chains, felted toys and many other things, possibilities for fleece usage are endless, it’s up to our imagination!
